Imelda Abano

Biography

Imelda Abano has covered environmental and developmental issues in the Philippines for 14 years. She is the President of the Philippine Network of Environmental Journalists Inc (PNEJ), which she founded in 2010 with assistance from Internews. She is also an Editor and Project Manager at PNEJ’s Philippine EnviroNews and a contributor for InterAksyon.com. Now a member of the board of the Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ), Abano was among the first batch of journalists to join the Climate Change Media Partnership in 2007 to cover the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) conference in Bali, Indonesia and afterwards became a UNFCCC fellow covering a series of climate change negotiations. Previously, she was the Senior Correspondent of the Philippine Business Mirror Daily.
