David Akana

Biography

David Akana is a seasoned journalist and media practitioner, with close to 15 years of experience in reporting development issues in Africa. Akana is currently Managing Editor of InfoCongo and a consultant for the African Network of Environmental Journalists, an organization he helped create with the support of the United Nations Environment Program in Nairobi. His articles have appeared in Reuters, Radio France International, Ground Report, Climate Change Media Partnership and The Post Newspaper in his native Cameroon. Akana’s extensive reporting career has included interviews with high-profile personalities such as the former military ruler of Mauritania, Ely Ould Mouhamed Vall; the former President of Nigeria, H. E. Olusegun Obasanjo, and the former president of Senegal, H. E. Abdoulaye Wade. Akana is a graduate of the Multimedia Journalism program of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
