Marina Gilbert Aizen

Biography

I have been a journalist since the 80's. My first encounter with the environment happened at the UN, in 1992. By then, I had moved from Buenos Aires to New York City, and I was working for the news agency IPS. My first assignment was to cover the last preparatory conference for the Rio Summit. And that changed forever my view about the world. I remained in New York till 2003, working as a correspondent for Clarin, the largest newspaper in Argentina. After I returned to my home country, I began to focus more and more on environmental issues. For my articles, I was awarded both nationally and internationally for my articles on the environment. I wrote a book about the most polluted river in Buenos Aires, The Riachuelo. It is called Contaminados.

I am a mother of a wonderful daughter of 14, to who I devote all my work. I am married and I live in Buenos Aires.
