Maggie Mazzetti

Biography

Maggie is the Content Coordinator for Internews’ Earth Journalism Network. Maggie is a former producer and assignments manager for Associated Press Television, where she covered major humanitarian crises including Typhoon Haiyan, military conflicts in eastern Ukraine and the Gaza Strip, and the plight of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. She also field produced a longer form piece that focused on innovative efforts by local officials to control invasive catfish species overwhelming the natural ecosystem of the Chesapeake Bay. Prior to working at AP, Maggie was an assignment editor for CNN, where she and her team won a Peabody award for their coverage of the 2008 U.S. presidential elections. At CNN, Maggie also field produced stories for CNN’s Impact Your World in Sri Lanka and Indonesia. Maggie holds a M.A. in International Relations with a focus on energy and resources from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). As a student, she published a paper with the U.S.-Korea Institute analyzing then-President Lee Myung Bak’s national strategy for green growth.
