In 1992 officials from countries around the world gathered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the Earth Summit to tackle the biggest environmental issues of the day. Twenty years later, many of the same challenges still remain. Negotiators and delegates made some incremental progress at Rio +20 but much of the real action around the world is happening at the community level.
