29 July 2010 | Resources

This is one of the Earth Journalism Toolkit’s selected resources for journalists. Read on for a full description.

This 86-page handbook was published in 2008 by the Metcalf Institute for Marine & Environmental Reporting and edited by Bud Ward. It is aimed at both journalists and scientists and is based on workshops where both groups of professional met. Although it is very US-centric it has useful and interesting sections on how science and scientists work, on localizing climate change stories and on reporting on climate change ‘skeptics’, and a section of tips for journalists that are relevant to subjects other than climate change. Download the document in PDF format from this page on the Metcalf Institute website.
