EJN's project on wildlife and conservation journalism in East Africa is looking for a subgrantee to co-run its activities in a selected country.

The story of an ancient species at risk is also the story of a proud people laid low by regulation. It shows that conservation is never simple, writes Marius Daea.

Landless Dalits are often hit hardest by natural disasters and are the last to get relief supplies. These marginalised communities are also left behind in subsequent rehabilitation programmes, Mahima Jain reports.

Drought aggravated by climate change is hurting coffee growers in the Mekong region, and intensive farming techniques are part of the problem.

Rather than tell stories about the impacts of a changing climate that strike fear and paralysis in readers, how can we highlight ways that people around the world are responding to these problems? Covering solutions is one answer, and it was the motivating force behind a recent workshop hosted by Internews’ Earth Journalism Network and the Solutions Journalism Network.

Internews developed the Earth Journalism Network to enable journalists from developing countries to cover the environment more effectively. We are now a truly global network with around 9,000 members from 130 countries. To improve the quantity and quality of environmental reporting, we offer workshops and training materials, develop innovate environmental news sites, offer Fellowship programs and small reporting grants, establish and build up networks of environmental journalists and support local news production -- including ground-breaking investigative reports.
