Michelle Soto

Biography

Michelle Soto is a graduate journalist from the University of Costa Rica (UCR). Her professional interest is focused on reporting on science and environment issues.

She has worked in media such as Semanario Universidad, the magazines Perfil, Su Casa and SOHO, as well as the newspaper La Nación of Costa Rica.

Her journalistic work has been recognized with national and international awards. She has covered climatic summits and world conferences on environmental issues, and has also interviewed renowned figures such as Jane Goodall, Sylvia Earle, Alexandra Cousteau, Christiana Figueres, Thomas Stocker and Jean Pascal Van Ypersele, among others.

She has been a fellow of the International Visitor Leadership Program of the United States Department of State, UN Foundation, UNFCCC Secretariat, Blue Peace, Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, Federal Foreign Office of Germany and Earth Journalism Network.

In 2016, together with Ojalá Ediciones, she published her first book entitled Grandes Espectáculos Naturales (Greatest Wildlife Spectables of Costa Rica).

She currently collaborates with the communication network on climate change for Latin America named LatinClima and Mongabay Latam.
