Biography

A former staff reporter for the Wall Street Journal in Indonesia, Sara reported from around Southeast Asia for more than 12 years for the International New York Times, Christian Science Monitor and Voice of America, among others. In 2017 she wrote about the impact environmental change was having on women in Guatemala as a fellow with the International Reporting Project. A native of Ohio, Sara returned to the US in late 2017 to cover how rural communities are responding to social and economic transition and find ways to better report on these areas amid the growth of news deserts.
