Ahang is a journalist and MA student based in Iraq. She is currently working with KirkukNow. KirkukNow is an independent electronic news website that publishes stories and events taking place within or relevant to Iraq’s disputed territories, as defined in the Iraqi constitution, with the aim of promoting coexistence in those areas and providing easy access to information. In the past 12 years, she reported on corruption, energy, human rights, gender issues, and political tensions in Iraq. Since 2021 she started reporting on environmental-related issues. "I spent the best 12 years of my life working as a journalist. That is why I always keep telling myself. I have to be the best version of myself. The best version, not compared to anything or anyone but myself. Only then I can give the best to the people of my country".

Her focus area now is reporting on environmental-related issues in Iraq in relation to human rights, regional tensions, gender issues, minority rights, and freedom of expression. In 2023 she was awarded a CCMP Fellowship to attend and report from the UNFCCC COP28 in Dubai.
