André Habet is a freelance journalist and writer based in Belize's capital, Belmopan. He began his freelance career in September 2022 after a decade in academia studying rhetoric and composition, completing his Ph.D. in December 2022. His work often covers conservation, climate justice, and environmental policy in Belize. Currently a Climate Justice Journalism Fellow with Climate Tracker, he's published work on the potential for Belize to acquire climate finance for leaving oil in the ground, and on call centers' disaster preparedness plans in the wake of Hurricane Lisa in November 2022. He's been published in the Belizean newspapers Amandala and The Reporter.
