Arnold Ageta is a Kenyan multimedia journalist based in Nyamira but covers Nyanza and Rift Valley regions. He has worked in TV, radio, print and online publications. Currently, he works with Tidal Wave News and contributes to Radio Baraza.
Arnold has produced multimedia online and radio stories on different areas mainly on climate change/environment, health and agriculture.
In 2011, together with his colleague, he won the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association - One World Media Award for the best radio story in Commonwealth countries. In 2013, he won the best radio story in Kenya’s Internews Storyfest Awards. He was also nominated for the 2023 ICFJ Knight International Journalism Awards.
Arnold also trains and mentors fresh graduates who need hands-on orientation on field reporting on health, climate/environment and agriculture. He has mentored more than 20 journalists who are now in the leading media houses in Kenya.
Arnold is committed to reporting on how climate change affects and leads to health and agricultural issues to raise awareness and trigger synergies of topics ignored in the general media.
Arnold was awarded the EJN Kenya Climate Change grant in 2022 and his story was published on The Scholar Media newspaper and digital edition. The story was about how the longest river in Western Kenya was at the brink of drying up and how the community should partner with various stakeholders to save the river which is the source of livelihoods for thousands of people.
Arnold holds a degree in communication; diploma in journalism and public relations; and a certificate in project management.
