Assia Chaneva is a journalist with over 20 years of experience. Her main focuses are human rights, society, diversity, environment, climate change and science. She has also worked in science communication since 2004 as well as worked with Bulgarian National Radio.

Assia has completed trainings in:

  • “Reporting on the European Forum Alpbach” organized by Thomson Reuters Foundation and European Forum Alpbach (August-September 2020)
  • “Professional Journalism Training“ organized by Thomson Reuters Foundation, NED and European Forum Alpbach (August 2019)
  • "Media, Minorities and Migration Media Program on Effective Reporting on Development" by Minority Rights Group International (February-April 2019) followed by field visit to Spain and Morocco in July 2019

Some of her awards include:

  • 2019 journalistic award of the Bulgarian Platform for International Development which honors journalists for their contribution to the coverage of the philosophy, principles and instruments of the European Development Policy
  • 2015 award from Technical University-Bulgaria for journalist professionalism in covering educational activities and scientific achievements
  • 2009 silver medal winner: 21-st Radio Grand Prix International Contest of URTI (URTI-Union Radiophonique et Télévisuelle Internationale), Paris, France. The competition gathered 48 programs from 29 countries
