Li Wei is a full-time journalist with Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA), based in Kuala Lumpur. She started her career in 2011, specifically reporting on issues regarding climate change, eco-tourism, environment, wildlife, and pollution, as well as vulnerable communities which involve Indigenous people.

She was previously involved in an investigative report about illegal logging, which had greatly impacted the biodiversity and indigenous community in Kelantan, one of the northern states in Malaysia in early of June 2022. The investigative project was supported by The Centre for Governance and Political Studies (Cent- GPS) and US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur through a story grant. The story about Indigenous People who were affected by illegal logging activities had been widely reported in other publications after her story was reported exclusively in http://www.bernama.com. 

She also writes in three languages - English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.
