Bridget Lepere is a radio and print media specialist based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her interests lie in reporting on health, environmental and social justice issues. She has over 10 years’ experience as a radio, television production and print media professional. Her previous employers include the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation, the University of the Witwatersrand University, the SABC and recently Creamer Media’s Engineering News and Mining Weekly magazine. Currently she is working as a freelance writer and with the print and television industry.
She possesses a B-Tech in journalism which she attained at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and a higher certificate in pre-school education from Stadio. She possesses fact checking skills, court reporting and SEO implementation skills. She endeavors to further pursue her studies in journalism, particularly in science reporting and with a special focus in incorporating more African voices, languages and Indigenous African systems to further entrench, diversify and make science accessible to previously disadvantaged communities.
During her tenure at the Wits Radio Academy at the University of the Witwatersrand, she received a nomination for the best radio producer at the Liberty Radio Awards 2018 for a neuroscience story on how a genius comes to be. During her formative years as a student journalism her passion for her craft afforded her a nomination in the SABC’s awards for the student news anchor category in 2008.
