Caroline Chebet is an award-winning journalist who writes for The Standard newspaper in Kenya.  With her experience, Caroline has curved a niche in reporting conservation and environmental issues, science, gender, climate change and education.

She has pursued stories on biodiversity loss, conservation education, restoration initiatives, indigenous knowledge of conservation and environmental investigative stories among many others. Her stories have been featured in the local and international publications including The Standard and Daily Nation in Kenya, The Independent, Mongabay, Mail&Guardian, Daily maverick and The Continent.

In 2021, Caroline’s story featuring the restoration initiative in Kenya’s Tana Delta won the Media Council of Kenya’s Annual Journalism Excellence Development Reporting award. Being a strong believer in telling stories to inspire change, her investigative story on trafficking and trade of African grey parrots in Kenya inspired policy changes when the government outlawed ownership of unregistered birds following the expose. Caroline is part of the team of six journalists who delivered on a cross-border reporting project on sea level rise, coastal risk and equitable climate resilience.
