Biography
Muyhong Chan is currently a freelance journalist for the Voice of Democracy (VOD), one of the few remaining independent news outlets in Cambodia. After obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Media Management at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), she joined the Phnom Penh Post business desk in 2013 covering agriculture, investment and trade, tourism and energy.
In 2016 through a scholarship from the Open Society Foundation, she earned a Masters Degree in Culture, Media and Society from Lancaster University. In 2017, after a short stint as a correspondent at NNA Asia, a news agency under Kyodo News, Muyhong worked as a project manager for the Khmer Rouge Storytelling mobile app, Mapping Memories Cambodia, and then as a part-time lecturer at the Department of Media and Communication at RUPP.
In 2018, she began work as a freelance journalist and media consultant, reporting on environment, labor rights, and social issues in Cambodia. Her bylines appear on New Narrative, CamboJA News, China Dialogue, and recently the South China Morning Post.
