Biography
Cindy Sipula is a science and environmental Journalist with 7 years work experience. She holds a diploma in journalism from Evelyn Hone College and an undergraduate Bachelor Degree in Public Relations from Cavendish University Zambia. Cindy is based in Siavonga district of Zambia and working for the Zambia News and Information Services, a government news agency. She writes stories for both print and electronic media with her recent focus on utilizing multimedia to air her stories. Her passion is in health, science and environmental reporting, with climate change taking a larger part of that in the past years. She is a data Journalist who has covered numerous stories ranging from climate change, COVID 19 etc.
The recent stories she is proud of is covering solution based agriculture practices that indigenous communities in Zambia are implementing aimed at cushioning challenges that come with climate change. Cindy holds five awards to her name with the recent being the Golden Print Media Awards sponsored by the Media Institute for Southern Africa (MISA Zambia). She is also a recipient of two reporting grants being the 2021 Environmental Story Reporting Grant by Earth Journalism Network and the Improving Africa's Public Health Sector-Lessons from COVID-19 Reporting Grant by the African Women in Media.
