Biography

Daniel Gutman is a journalist based in Argentina who has been covering environmental issues in his own country and the region for the last 20 years. He currently works for the international news agency IPS and for Ecoamericas, a monthly publication about Latin American environmental issues. He was a staff reporter at Clarin, the biggest newspaper in Argentina, for more than 10 years and also worked for the human rights organization Amnesty International as communications coordinator in Buenos Aires. He was part of newsrooms in the United States and Italy on journalistic exchange programs, and published five books of investigative journalism, one of which was translated into Hebrew. He was awarded a fellowship from the European Union (EU), to make post-graduate studies in Spain. Daniel is lawyer by training, a university professor and is currently studying for a master's degree in Law and Economy of Climate Change at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), in Buenos Aires. He covers issues like the access of vulnerable communities to water and energy, impact of climate change on rural and indigenous communities, forests and biodiversity, renewable energy and how communities either deal with natural disasters or work to build resilient agriculture.
