Biography
Hathairat Phaholtap has been working as a journalist for 19 years. She is the Managing Editor for the Isaan Record, which produces in-depth stories in the Northeast of Thailand. She started her journalism career in 2002 for a local newspaper in Bangkok, then moved to Thai PBS where she reported on human rights, environmental issues, and politics from 2011 to 2018.
In 2012, she received a media award from Amnesty International Thailand for a documentary on southern violence aired on Thai PBS. She received the same award again in 2015 and 2017 for her reports on the gold mining contamination in Phichit provinces and Rohingya refugees, respectively. She was also granted Honoring Women Human Rights Defenders Award 2017 and Outstanding Human Rights Defenders 2018 from the National Human Rights Commission Thailand.
