Bay of Bengal Climate Resiliency Initiative 2019

Biography

Jency Samuel started writing for architectural magazines when she was working as a civil engineer. What started as a hobby became a passion, and slowly her focus shifted to developmental journalism. The power of the written word propelled her to write about climate change, the environment, sustainability, rural livelihoods, etc. She wants her stories to initiate conversations amongst her readers.

"This story is an example of the type of stories I liked doing. It played a role in the woman singer in the band getting recognised as one of BBC's 100 Women of 2020. I keep writing with the hope that my words would effect change."
