Biography

Khalid Bencherif is a Freelance Award-winning Journalist from Morocco, specialising in covering environmental, social and political issues in North Africa and the Middle East. His recent story on In These Times magazine is a long-form narrative feature that shows how climate change is rendering parts of Morocco uninhabitable. He has more than five years of experience as a journalist, and a master’s degree in Journalism. He recently started working as a freelance journalist trainer with the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at the University of Texas at Austin.

He has received many relevant awards and fellowships, including, The “Investigative Reporting Award” given by the Prometheus Institute in partnership with Oxfam - OCT 2020, “Biodiversity Grant” from Earth Journalism Network -- Mars 2021, “Climate Change Fellowship” From Candid foundation – Jun 2021, “Justice For Journalists Grant” From Justice For Journalists organization – Jun 2021. 

He targets policy makers and general public, especially the youths, in the Middle East and North Africa region. He has accessed over 3 million readers, approximately 9,000 reads per piece, according to the Website's Data.
