Reporting on Land Degradation and Climate Resilience in Africa 2022

Biography

Leonard Masauli is an investigative and environmental science Journalist from Malawi News Agency in Central Africa. He has worked for the online publication with close to 10 years practical experience in both newsroom and outside engagements writing about science, development, health, and agriculture among others. He holds a Journalism Certificate from Malawi Institute of Journalism and currently studying Bachelor Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication with Indian Amity University.
Leonard Masauli is proud of a story in which he unearthed the Malawi self made engineer (Cored Nkosi) who invented a hydro electric power plant and provides free electricity to villagers. The story won an award from Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom in 2018. In 2021, he further, won a grant from World Federation of Science Journalists (Louise Behan Reporting Grant) to do a story project on Turtles which were poached in his Country.
