Biography
Mohamed Abatach is a journalist based in Tangier, Morocco. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Ibn Zohr University, Agadir and since 2015, he has been working at Al Akhbar Newspaper, where he has reported on local political issues, security, civil society, and financial management and governance in local councils. Previously in his career, he has worked with Machahid Info, MEDIA 27, Agadir News and Albahr24. He is fluent in Tamazight, Arabic, Colloquial Moroccan Arabic, and Colloquial Hassani Arabic and also possesses an intermediate level in French and English. He has taken part in various trainings and workshops covering; digital security, storytelling, investigative journalism, data journalism, environmental journalism, public relations, international war and conflict, human rights and minorities issues, social media and photography. He is also a recipient of an investigative journalism scholarship supported by the German Foreign Office and in collaboration with Zenith magazine, for in-depth stories on sustainable development.
