Biography

Son Phan Kim has more than 20 years of experience as a medical journalist. He is working for The Gioi Hoi Nhap (TGHN), a Vietnamese language magazine published monthly. Son reports on are medicine, the environment, and sciences.

Son earned two bachelor's degrees in Journalism and French Literature at Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities. From 2009-2010, Son was awarded a scholarship from Welcome Trust to study science communication in the UK. When he returned to Vietnam, he resumed journalism and worked as a science communicator for Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) Vietnam.

In 2013, he was a mentor for SjCOOP ASIA, a project of the World Federation of Science Journalists (WFSJ), aiming to promote science journalism in Asian countries. From that period, he has engaged deeply in science journalism, especially environmental reporting. Son had reporting tours in Hong Kong, Indonesia under Health Journalism Fellowship 2007 organized by the East West Center, and Japan under SjCOOP ASIA.
