Rahul Singh is an independent journalist based in the mineral-rich eastern Indian province of Jharkhand and he mainly writes on environmental issues. He has been focussing on understanding river ecosystems and the coal economy and its impact for the past few months. He has almost devoted himself to elaborately study the Energy Transition and River Ecosystems which emerged as his favorite topics over the years.

He holds a master's degree in journalism from the prestigious Banaras Hindu University in India. He had a reasonably long association with Jharkhand based prominent Hindi daily Prabhat Khabar. Prior to that, he also had a tryst with political journalism during his stint with another prestigious Hindi daily Deshbandhu in Delhi. His date with development journalism began with Prabhat Khabar with his growing emphasis on rural development and the environment.

His articles have been published on Mongabay Hindi, Mongabay India, 101 Reporters, Counter Currents, Scroll, News18, Hindi Carbon Copy, Samridh Jharkhand and Janjwar and various other digital media platforms.  

He has also received a fellowship from the National Foundation for India in the year 2021 for working on the subject of health. He is also a Fellow of Veditum India Foundation, an organization working on the rivers of India.
