Biography

Sibi Arasu has worked as a journalist for more than a decade and reports almost exclusively on issues related to the environment and climate change from India. As an independent journalist, he has written for multiple news organizations both in India and internationally. These include the National Geographic, the BBC, the New Internationalist, Hindustan Times, Scroll. in, The Wire. in, Mongabay.org, and the Caravan magazine among others. Arasu has reported on issues pertaining to extreme weather events, climate change adaptation, and mitigation, industrial pollution, conservation and conflict between people and wildlife as well as on the rights of the Adivasi or indigenous people of India. Arasu is the recipient of various environmental journalism awards such as the Red Ink Awards (Special Mention in the Environment category) 2019, the Asian Environmental Journalism Award 2019 and the Prem Bhatia Environmental Journalist of the Year Award 2018.
