Snigdhendu Bhattacharya is an independent journalist based in Kolkata, writing on India's politics, policies, human rights, environment, land-conflict, data, history and culture since 2005, with a special interest in the eastern region of the country. He worked with the Hindustan Times for 13 years till mid-2020. Working independently since then, he has his text-based and multimedia reports appearing in The Wire, Outlook magazine, Mongabay-India, Nikkei Asia, Huffpost India, Caravan magazine, The Times of India, Deccan Herald, IndiaSpend, The Third Pole, Article-14, The Print, Newslaundry, News18, News9, BoomLive and Live History India. He has two books of narrative non-fiction published from HarperCollins India, 'Lalgarh and the Legend of Kishanji: Tales from India's Maoist Movement' (2016) and 'Mission Bengal: A Saffron Experiment' (2020). He has written investigative reports on a range of issues - from fake art racket to land-conflict and violation of human rights.
