Tanvi Deshpande is a journalist based in Mumbai, India. With over nine years of experience in journalism, she has worked for leading Indian publications including The Hindu, Mumbai Mirror, Mid Day, The Free Press Journal, The Times of India. She started freelancing in 2020, writing for various digital media outlets including Al Jazeera English, ThePrint, Mongabay India, Gaon Connection and currently works for data journalism non-profit IndiaSpend where she covers environment and climate change. 

Tanvi has a post-graduate diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai. She was a Population Reference Bureau South Asia Fellow in 2021.
Having covered a variety of political and urban administration stories throughout her career, from 2020 onwards, Tanvi wrote on subjects such as rural health preparedness for Covid19, the pandemic's impact on sex workers, general stories on education, livelihood, agriculture and urban environment. From 2021 onwards, she has been covering environment and climate change at IndiaSpend including undertaking coverage of COP26 and COP27.
