Biography

Vivek Gupta is a freelance journalist based in Chandigarh, India. He has covered stories on politics, education, rights, environment and climate change impact in the last 15 years of his professional career.
Gupta started his career in 2007 with Hindustan Times. He then went on to work for other national dailies including The Indian Express and The Tribune before venturing out as an independent journalist in the year 2020.

As an independent writer, his stories have appeared in The Wire, Mongabay, 101reporters, The leaflet, Newsclick, Gaon Connection and other news web portals. In 2021, he was awarded the National Foundation of India fellowship besides getting selected for Thomson Reuters Foundation’s flagship Changemaker programme.
