Biography

Siew Lyn Wong is a Malaysian freelance writer who has been writing professionally for 30 years. Her work appears in the print, broadcast and electronic media and her clients have ranged from media to aid agencies and corporations to NGOs.

She is co-founder of Macaranga, a journalism portal featuring in-depth features on environmental and sustainable issues on Malaysia. Her team also has a monthly segment on the local BFM 89.9 Radio, where they do a wrap-up of key environmental news. In addition, she trains and mentors new environmental journalists.

Besides EJN, Siew Lyn is co-grantee of the Pulitzer Centre Rainforest Journalism Grant for a series on deforestation in Peninsular Malaysia.

She is particularly passionate about conservation and marine issues as well as grassroots efforts, but her aim is to inform and influence decision-makers from all sectors towards sustainable development.
