Biography

Freelance writer and analyst Xuewan Chen works out of Beijing, China. She spent more than six years working as an energy and carbon correspondent at Caixin media before deciding to become freelance this September. She has long concentrated on the study and monitoring of energy and carbon, including energy transformation, the carbon market, renewable energy, electricity system reform, the phase-out of coal power, the spot electricity market, inter-provincial power trading, time-of-use electricity pricing, and energy storage. She enjoys volunteering for charities, flying, and traditional Chinese culture outside of work.
