Apply now for EJN media fellowships to the IUCN World Conservation Congress

Journalists are invited to apply to join a fellowship programme on biodiversity and conservation, at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Hawai’i in September.

Deadline for sending applications - April 30th - 11:59 pm EDT

The Earth Journalism Network in partnership with the Arcadia Foundation and the Full Circle Fund of RSF Social Finance invites working journalists, particularly those from developing countries, to apply.

We also particularly welcome applicants from journalists who identify as indigenous peoples.

Selected participants will attend a day-long workshop on September 1st before spending Sept 2-5 at the World Conservation Congress developing sources and story ideas, networking with other journalists, and reporting on news from conservation organisations, governments and researchers.

The workshop will provide participants with an overview of biodiversity issues and conservation solutions, as well as tips for reporting on these topics and for navigating the World Conservation Congress. During the Congress, fellows will have opportunities for special briefings with key figures in the field of biodiversity conservation.

All participants will have all their travel expenses and lodging covered. We hope they will come away from the Hawai’i with a rich stock of contacts, knowledge and ideas to support their future reporting.

The fellowships are part of a three year project that Internews’ Earth Journalism Network is running to encourage stronger media coverage of biodiversity and conservation.

Future opportunities will include fellowships to report on other international conferences such as the conference of parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in Mexico in December, 2016.

For more information about the World Conservation Congress see the IUCN website.
