The Third Pole
South Asia

Launched in 2007 as a partnership of Internews’ Earth Journalism Network and China Dialogue, the Third Pole has a focus on climate and ecological issues in the Himalayas. It has helped in promoting regional cooperation by building the resources and reporting capacity of local media and through the publication of balanced, unbiased, rigorously researched news and feature stories.

The Third Pole network comprises journalists, policymakers, non-governmental organizations and experts. It has developed a particular focus on water resources and management in South Asia and is led out of New Delhi by director Joydeep Gupta with support from colleagues and networks in China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, the UK and the US.

The Third Pole has become a primary news site for environmental issues in the region and has established itself as source of news for several outlets in South Asia, which re-publish its content regularly, and beyond.
