Experts: The Final Text of COP28 Is An 'Unprecedented Achievement'

Experts spoke to Al Ain News about this historic achievement. Dr. Samir Tantawi, a climate change consultant at the United Nations and a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, commented on the outcome of the COP28 conference.

He said that the results were an "unprecedented achievement," particularly paragraph 28, which stipulates the transition away from fossil fuels, including gas, oil, and coal. He added that COP26 and COP27 had mentioned coal before, but for the first time, fossil fuels were mentioned in the COP's output.
