Ignoring Trump, city and state leaders in the US move ahead to combat climate change

United States President Donald Trump has shown little if any concern for climate change, threatening to withdraw the US from the Paris Agreement as soon as legally able and rolling back earlier regulations that limit climate-warming carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants.  But some US city officials have opposed these measures, issuing progressive local laws that aim to reduce their carbon emissions. At the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco, the message from local and state leaders was that action to address climate change could be carried out without the need for central government support.
