In Sfax, Tunisia, Destructive Fishing Kills Marine Life
A short documentary on indiscriminate fishing in Tunisian waters.
A huge and diverse stock of fish and marine life is found in Gabes, where many species come to feed and breed. However, intensifying indiscriminate fishing off the coasts of Sfax has threatened this wealth, destroying a large number of fish species and damaging the ocean floor with nets equipped with weights or solid structures.
Tunisian journalist Bahira Ouji reports:
This documentary was produced with support from Internews' Earth Journalism Network. It was first published in Diwan FM on 13 July 2023 in Arabic.
