Summit participants warn of catastrophic impacts from climate change

Two major storms -- Hurricane Florence, which hit the east coast of the United States, and Typhoon Mangkhut, which swept across the Philippines -- occurred at nearly the same time last week. Just before those storms made landfall, local government leaders, business people and representatives of environmental organizations gathered in San Francisco, California, to commit to taking greater action to curb climate change. Former US Vice President and now well-known environmental activist, Al Gore, delivered remarks at that event reminding those in attendance that the impacts of climate change are increasingly catastrophic.

Irena Pretika, a reporter with Jakarta-based broadcaster Metro TV, produced the following report in Indonesian.
