Biography

Justice Nwafor is a print/online environmental journalist with about five years of experience. From Nigeria’s southwestern city of Ibadan, he writes as a senior reporter for the Nigerian Tribune, one of the country’s most respected media outlets. Aside from writing for the Nigerian Tribune, he freelances and has been published by the BBC, Science and Development Network (SciDev.Net), International Policy Digest, Ripples Nigeria and more.

In 2021, Justice’s two-part investigation on Nigeria’s response to COVID-19 won the print/digital news category of the Prevent Epidemics Nigeria Journalism Award. In the same year, his reports made it to the top three, in two categories, of the Nigeria Media Merit Awards.

He has won grants for reports from organisations in and outside Nigeria, including the Africa-China reporting project at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He has been part of a number of fellowships and pieces of training which have helped horn his journalistic skills. Justice is passionate about seeing a healthy and climate-friendly environment and makes conscious efforts to see this happen through the investigative and data-driven stories he tells
