Indigenous Environmental Reporting 2022

Biography

Satej Chakma is a young indigenous journalist with 4.5 years experiences in the field of reporting on indigenous people’s issues. He loves to cover the stories regarding the climate and environmental issues. Currently he is serving at Dhaka based Indigenous Peoples’ News (IPNEWS) as chief reporter. In his career the focus areas of his reporting are mainly the indigenous women violation, land grabbing of the indigenous peoples, young indigenous entrepreneurship, environment and climate change issues and etc. Recently he has been awarded with 'Action Aid young journalism Fellowship Award-2021' by the Action Aid Bangladesh. During his fellowship he marked his excellence in his reporting on the challenges and possibilities of young indigenous entrepreneurs in Chittagong Hill Tracts. He also writes articles on the contemporary issues in different news papers, magazine and journal.
