EJN Reporting Fellowships

To mark our 20th anniversary in 2024, EJN is pleased to announce the launch of a new year-long fellowship program for journalists which will enhance reporting over four priority areas — climate change, biodiversity, the ocean and One Health.

EJN will select four exceptional environmental reporters for year-long support through this fellowship, providing a quarterly salary stipend, funding for story production, and travel and professional development opportunities.

Fellows will also receive sustained 1-1 mentorship from EJN media trainers. Over the course of the program, they will build skills in data journalism, mobile journalism, solutions journalism, fact checking and data visualization and have opportunities to network with thematic experts and their peers.

Fellows will deepen their expertise in their chosen track, while also broadening their understanding of the other three thematic areas, ensuring they are adept at producing in-depth reports that highlight the interlinkages between environmental issues.

Through this comprehensive approach, the Fellowship will equip talented early- and mid-career journalists with the necessary tools, knowledge and confidence to pursue and produce impactful stories, and ensure they are well situated to become leaders in their coverage of their chosen beats, as well as agents of change.

The first cohort (EJN Reporting Fellowships 2024) will meet for an orientation workshop in London in January and will participate in monthly virtual training sessions for the Fellowship. In addition, they will work closely with their mentor to produce at least six high-quality stories each by the end of the program.
