Ricardo Garcia
Ricardo Garcia is a journalist specializing in environment, science and data journalism. He spent most of his career at Público newspaper in Portugal as a reporter, editor and columnist. He was also London correspondent for the Portuguese weekly Expresso. He currently works as a freelance journalist, journalism trainer and consultant for institutions such as the Earth Journalism Network, the Thomson Reuters Foundation, the Climate Disaster Project and various media outlets. Ricardo has been reporting on environmental issues for more than 30 years. He has won two dozen journalism and infographic awards and is the author of two handbooks for journalists on environmental reporting and statistics. He has a degree in history from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, a postgraduate certificate in climate change and sustainable development policy from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and was a fellow at what is now the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University, UK.
